Web Developer

The Position
Join an exciting and expanding .com company. We're looking to hire a detail oriented PHP web developer with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). You will be working with a small team (three to four) and handling a variety of different tasks (you won't just be writing code). We need agile developers who are smart and get things done.

We really aren't concerned with where you went to university, if you graduated, or how many jobs you've had before. We are concerned with your drive to improve yourself, pay attention to the details, and help the people around you.

The work is demanding and you will be expected to understand what you need to do and largely manage your own time and deliverables – we don't have babysitters. If you want an opportunity to learn and grow, to work with a team of great, smart people, we want to hear from you.

As part of the IT team you may be called upon to help out with general technical issues so you should be enthusiastic about solving everyday IT problems with desktops and laptops.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced web developer, with a keen interest in general IT (networks, servers, etc). There will also be some Devops - helping build and rebuild our infrastructure as we scale.

You should:
  • be a self-starter who can adapt quickly in a fast changing startup environment
  • have no problem multi-tasking and working on a variety of projects
A candidate should have experience with:
  • 2+ years of experience developing web applications with PHP
  • object-oriented programming, patterns, and frameworks using PHP5
  • working knowledge of revision management tools (we use git)
  • HTML, CSS, web standards and semantic web markup
  • SQL and a working understanding of best practices
  • JavaScript and experience with at least one JavaScript library (e.g jQuery, Prototype, MooTools)
An ideal candidate will also have:
  • Knowledge of the online travel industry
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and LAMP stack configuration
  • Experience with Zend Framework, Doctrine2 or Symfony2 would be a definite plus
  • Visual design skills (e.g. designing interface mockups with Photoshop)
  • An active interest/knowledge of Linux/Windows server/system setup and maintenance
  • a desire to innovate
  • Knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of MS Exchange
  • Some technical support experience
Salary
€18,000 - €25,000
